Brownsville Year Round Walk
5 km. (3.1 miles), 10 km. (6.2 miles), or 13 km. (8 miles), all rated moderately easy.
Walk through the historic downtown and through Pioneer Park. Take time to visit the Linn County History Museum (in railroad cars) and the impressive Moyer House. The 13 km. walk visits the Pioneer Cemetery.
Carpools leave the Willamalane Adult Activity Center, 215 West C Street in Springfield, at 8 a.m. and return there about 2 p.m. Each rider pays the driver $5 to help cover car expenses. Following the walk, the carpoolers may choose a restaurant, either in Brownsville or somewhere on the return trip, to have lunch together; however, lunch arrangements are always optional for each rider/walker.
People traveling to Brownsville on their own should plan to meet the carpoolers at the start point, the Chevron Station/Mini Mart at 203 W. Bishop Way in Brownsville, at about 8:45 a.m. Directions to the Chevron Station, and further details of this walk, can be found by clicking on the "Other Oregon Events" bar at the top left of this page, then "Year Round Events" and scrolling down to "Brownsville - Historic". Alternately, the same information on this and thousands of other Volkswalks and Volksbikes throughout the United States can be found by clicking on the "National Events" bar on this page, then "Events" and following the prompts. The National Events page also has links to Volkswalks in Canada and 39 other countries (click on "About Us" and "IVV Website").
