Dorris Ranch/Middle Fork Trail Year Round Walk
5 km. (3.1 miles) up to 13 km. (8 miles), all rated easy.
The first 2 km. (1.2 miles) of this walk are through a forested area of Dorris Ranch, the first commercial hazelnut ranch in the U. S.. The remaining 11 km. (6.8 miles) is on a new paved path along an especially beautiful stretch of the Middle Fork of the Willamette River. Follow as far as you wish on the Middle Fork Trail before turning around; if you go the entire distance, you'll reach Clearwater Park with water and restrooms available. Always carry water, regardless.
Registration for the walk is at 9 a.m. at the Courtsports Athletic Club, 2728 Pheasant Blvd., off Harlow Road in Springfield. Then travel 3 miles to the Dorris Ranch. The walk will probably finish by 12:30 p.m. for those walking the full 13 km. After finishing, some of the walkers will probably opt to have lunch together at a Springfield restaurant; this is purely optional, of course.
