Middle Fork Trail Cleanup
6.5 km. (4 miles) up to 13 km. (8 miles), rated easy. Or, pick up around the boat ramp and picnic area.
The first 2 km. (1.2 miles) of this walk are on a paved path through a beautiful forested area of the Dorris Ranch, on the southwest corner of Springfield. The remaining 11 km. (6.8 miles) is on the new paved path along the Middle Fork of the Willamette River, one of the prettiest riverside trails in Oregon.
Depending on how many "workers" show up, we'll split into two or three groups to clean up the litter along the first half of the trail (starting from Dorris Ranch), the last half of the trail (starting from Clearwater Park) and the boat launch/picnic area at Clearwater Park.
All a "worker" needs to provide is a sturdy pair of gloves and good humor. The Willamalane Park and Recreation District provides pails, garbage bags, and "litter-pickers".
Meet at the upper parking lot of Dorris Ranch, at the south end of 2nd Street in Springfield, at 9 a.m. We should be finished well before noon. After finishing, some of the "workers" may decide to have lunch together at a Springfield restaurant, but this is purely optional, of course.
