5 km. (3.1 miles) or 10 km. (6.2 miles), rated easy.
Walk some on sidewalks and streets, but mostly on natural paths along the 804 Trail and the Oregon Coast Trail through forested areas to the Amanda Statue, which honors the long, arduous travel of Native Americans from their native homelands to new reservations.
Registration for the walk is at 9:45 a.m. at the Overleaf Lodge, 280 Overleaf Lane, on the west side of Hwy. 101 at the north end of Yachats. Finish will be around noon, at which time the walkers will probably decide to have a restaurant lunch together; however, lunch arrangements are always optional for each walker.
There will be no organized carpools to Yachats. People needing transportation should call our president, Sally Ross, at 541-726-7169 or 541-547-3949 to see if arrangements can be made.
For more explicit directions to the Overleaf Lodge, and further details of this walk, click on the "Other Oregon Events" bar at the top left of this page, then "Year Round Events" and scroll down to "Yachats - Amanda's Trail". Alternately, the same information on this and thousands of other Volkswalks and Volksbikes throughout the United States can be obtained by clicking on the "National Events" bar on this page, then "Events" and follow the prompts. The National Events page also has links to Volkswalks in Canada and 39 other countries (click on "About Us" and "IVV Website").
